Isn't it just rivetted on at each end? (I have a Master with its lid
off upstairs, but I can't be bothered to get up to check it).

Removing the rivets should be fairly easy, but replacing them properly
would mean having access to a pop-rivetting gun. Although it ought to
be possible just to use suitably-sized nuts and bolts, I'm sure
there's enough clearance between the board and case.
