Subject: Black power supply

Just picked up a nice early issue 2 model A from freecycle which as far as I
can tell only has the 32k ram upgrade. The only thing that puzzles me about
this machine, is that is has the usual brass coloured power supply, and not
the black power supply I expected in the early machines. The serial number
is Cleartone Gwent 102311.

Could anyone shed any light on the black power supplys, how long they were
used for, were they replaced in machines because of problems, anything
related to the history.
