The best solution would of course be both, available as options on the
board, to suit the user's requirements. Then it could be built into an
original Beeb case, or into any other suitable enclosure, as desired.

Or, as an alternative, a Beeb-keyboard-to-USB (or PS/2) converter.
Such a thing exists for Commodores (the C=Key), it will fit inside the
shells of various old Commodores and turn them into a USB keyboard,
ideal for using with emulators, or even building a Mini-ITX system
into the case.
