Also been lurking watching this interesting thread develop ...
Charlie has possibly made a sensible suggestion there, the behaviour is
similar to what can happen (if my memory serves me right) if the printer
is activated by a CTRL-B or VDU2 being sent to the output stream on a
"real" BEEB. On the physical machine one of the keyboard LED lights up
(Shift?) which gives a clue that this has happened.
ISTR that CTRL-C clears this condition or pressing SHIFT allows the
screen print to continue.
It's been a very long time since I've done fired up a real machine
though, so some of the details may not be 100% accurrate, though I hope
I have made some kind of sense!
