If you are worrying about 6502 bugs at all then one useful thing to try 
out is the 6502 test suite. The original link I have appears to be dead, 
but you can grab it from my web page:

       http://www.modelb.bbcmicro.com/tech.html

Some fiddling required to get the 6502 environment to work a bit like 
the C64 for which this was original created, however. I'm not sure how 
easy this would be for an FPGA.

Some of the tests, particularly those for illegal instructions, may, I 
suppose, be specific to the 6510 used in the C64. The standard set 
appears to be the same, though...
