 Way OT!  Yes, we were up waiting for the baby to go back to sleep, and
  felt it - in Salford (nr Manchester.)  Very odd - I thought another
  bomb had gone off..

  BBC News 24 & website took 25 mins to get a 3 second "We're getting
  reports up".  Skynews.com was dead. earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk was dead.  I
  found this page:

  which gives live seismological data, which confirmed that there had
  been a major (for us!) event.
