You can use 3.5" floppies with the 8271 - I've done it myself. The
only problem I've encountered is trying to exchange the data/write
disk images on the 3.5" disks with PCs. Some PCs support the
single-density format, some don't. That's a subject that causes long,
drawn out arguments.

Having a 1770 allows you to use ADFS, I'm not sure of any other advantages.
