I don't remember that bit, but I've had a couple of those Philips
monitors. They've got a plain composite input, so any PC with TV-out
should display on it. Either that or they just overlaid the picture
afterwards, or something.

My personal experience is that if you switch on a Beeb that's been
sitting at the back of a cupboard for years, it goes bang and loads of
smoke comes out. People then have a tendency to throw them out, or eBay
the lid and throw the motherboard away, or similar.
