I'm using a 1084S, just driving the analogue input from the BBC's TTL
output -- which clearly isn't what you're supposed to do, but I didn't
have the right DIN plug for the digital input when I was making the
cable, and it works fine.

The 1084S isn't picky about sync pulses; you can just feed the BBC's
combined sync output to both inputs. They're just combined internally
anyway, looking at the schematics.

The cable I'm using is:

Signal BBC 1084S analogue
Red 1 4
Green 2 1
Blue 3 5
Sync 4 2 + 6
Ground 5 3
5V 6 unused

(I do like the 1084S -- mine was bought new in 1990, and I've been
using it pretty much ever since...)
