I'm using a Sony K-VX2521U (just stuck my head behind it) which is a 25"
Trinitron. It is the first TV I bought, waaay back in 1988, it's even got a
NICAM board in it. I use it exclusively for the Beeb, I had a 20" Microvitec
Cub before that (it blew up though) I bask in the satisfaction of using a 20
year old telly with a 26 year old computer ;)
I experimented with various cabling configurations and discovered that I
could drive the TV's RGB input without any resistors whatsoever, naturally,
you have to turn the contrast to zero, otherwise the display is horrifically
saturated. I get a very sharp display, capable of resolving individual
pixels in mode 0 and I get a rock steady 80 character display (no shimmering
etc) It is so much nicer to look at than an LCD, but it is very, very heavy
and takes up quite a bit of space.
I have a couple of Philips CM-8832mkII that I got with a bunch of (cough)
Amiga stuff. They're very nice monitors if space is a premium. I've only
ever hooked those up with analogue cables, I vaguely remember a little hack
someone did with a driver IC and a couple of pins on the 6845 to drive the
digital input's requirement of a separate HSYNC and VSYNC - mind you they
were talking about 30m of cable, so analogue would be out of the window
anyway.
Cheers
Dave ;)
