I'm fairly sure I have one more PSU than I have machine - I'd have to
check it's not the one that needs things poking into it to get it to
start up though.

Has anyone checked if the original blown PSU still works? I have had
*loads* of BBC PSUs blow up on me, with a loud fizzing noise and
clouds of smoke - and all of them still worked perfectly afterwards.
The filter capacitors fail with age, and they're really cheap and easy
to replace too.

I have a friend at work who's incredibly good at fixing switched-mode
PSUs, but he's not been at work for a while, so that's not of much
help.
