Yep, definitely Electron-based. It was actually badged as a BT Merlin
with a yellow label. It had a matching box on the back that looked
like an oversized Plus 1, which contained the modem and all the
necessary software in ROM. I remember seeing one of these in a flower
shop back in the days when I used an Electron as my main machine, and
I was hugely impressed that they were being used in the wild in such a
way.

Not really BBC-related, but I remember going to see a couple of
episodes of Supermarket Sweep being filmed at the Central (now
Carlton) TV studios in Nottingham, in the late 90s. There was a
Commodore 64C doing something on the control desk at the front of the
studio, in sight of the audience. I always wondered what it was for.
