Subject: USB interface for Beeb keyboard

Evening all,

Has anyone ever built a USB interface for a Beeb keyboard? I mean:
something like a PIC that does all the row-and-column scanning of the
keyboard, and identifies itself as a keyboard for the connected PC?

I'm interested in building a Linux-based emulator that runs fullscreen,
and connecting a pukka keyboard to it. If nothing else, I can gut a
cheap USB keyboard, keep the main controller board and severely rewire a
beeb keyboard PCB and then remap the keys in software (if you look at
sites that describe modding keyboards for - say - MAME joysticks, this
is how they tend to do it) but a PIC going between a PC and an unaltered
Beeb keyboard would be so much more elegant.

Any thoughts?

Kris.
