Seconded. Older PC AT power supplies (source from local freecycle list) work 
great for testing beebs with...

Definitely worth making sure that the PSU's stable before doing any more 
diagnosis, I think.

Oh, Ian - check the PSU connections to the beeb PCB, too. I've seen strange 
things happen when one of those begins to fail.
