Subject: Retro Software - Repton game discovered & JBeeb updates?

Hi,

Just a quick note to point out to anyone with a fondness for Repton,
that Dave M has recently managed to track down and get hold of images
of a previously unreleased Repton game, which was first mentioned on
this list back in 2002:

http://www.nelsonit.net/~jon/BBCMicro/2001/05/01/111516.html

Dave has introduced the original author, Paras, to RetroSoftware.co.uk
and it looks like they have all the permissions required to release it
eventually, albeit not as the Repton 4 it was originally intended as
(as there was one of those already in the Repton Infinity pack).
There's still some work to be done, including some level design, but
it's mostly in complete. Anyway, it's possible to subscribe to
particular sections of the site if you register, which makes it easy
to get email updates, if you're a Repton fan ... !

On an unrelated note, we've just thrown up a copy of JBeeb on the site
to show off demos / free releases, but it's lacking quite a few
features, like 1770 DFS support or even decent sound. I haven't yet
tracked down Duncan Woods, the author, as his address from 2004
bounces. I don't suppose anyone out there has picked up the Java
source and made any improvements to it, that I haven't heard about?
(or even fancies taking a look at it! :)

Peter.
