Last week I listened to a podcast made by a friend of mine in which they 
discussed Elite as one of the first 3D computer games. However none of them 
involved in the podcast were sure which version was the original one, 
perhaps the Commodore 64 one, because the IBM PC one came years later? :-P 
Of course I told him about the BBC Micro, which may be too obscure for a 
generic retro gamer who spent most of his teens with video game consoles.

Still, Elite must be THE game most educated people relate to the BBC - it 
was the first game my friends asked about after I got my first BBC computer.
