Thanks to everyone for their replies. I will have chance to try a few
things over the weekend and will report back next week with any progress.

I did have various ideas, including having an eprom burner but I do not
have the rom for it any more :( otherwise I would of popped the DFS rom
into that to see what state it was in) , and I am unable to find the
correct one (there appear to be variations) but that discussion is
probably better on another thread at some point in the future, or using
econet to get the program there (but that machine has some faults)

I really must sort my machines out as I have another one with worn out
(not by me) rom sockets and another with other annoying minor problems.
I must contact someone at some point to have a few replacements fitted I
think.

Jonathan, yes they are missing sadly :( , I know what you mean though
and understand why you asked. As if my memory serves me correctly there
are two unused ones (one each side) , but there are too many missing and
there was one present and bent (it broke when I carefully straightened
it, despite straightening many a bent rom pin without damage) , hence me
temporarily using some small lengths of wire and a parts of a broken
turned pin socket (to act as "pins") , I planned to have a replacement
fitted if it functioned.

:)
