Acorn used to supply an editor called Twin which, I think, ran on their
ARM1 coprocessor.  It uses the standard Acorn SWIs for I/O but I think
it only depends on about half a dozen of them for correct operation.  If
I remember right the screen output is all done with BBC-compatible VDU
codes so you shouldn't have any trouble making it work in your
environment.
