I've got photos here of the topsides of both 500 and 5000 PCBs, and can't make 
out any differences between them. If there is a capacitor hack (and I've 
heard* that tale, too) then it must be to the underside of the PCB.

* I do think I remember seeing a cap on the underside of a Music PCB, too - 
but I don't remember if that was a 500 or 5000 now (and it wasn't necessarily 
*the* cap, either :-)
