Subject: Electron power issues

Although it doesn't exactly fit the description of your fault, I've
had to resolder the power socket on just about every Electron I've
had, which must be about 9 or 10 (most of which I still have). It
could theoretically cause the machine to switch off as it warms up and
loses contact.

It might be an idea to just resolder it anyway while the PSU board's
out of the machine. Another likely culprit could be the electrolytic
caps.
