The widely touted reason is that after Acorn offered upgrades to users who
bought early Model A/B machines with MOS 0.10 they had a load of MOS 0.10's
(4kB EPROMs in a carrier board) on their hands.

Erasing these and using them in the coprocessor was a good bit of recycling,
Sprow.
