Serial port on the compact was an add on kit of chips. I have details
somewhere if needed. What was more peculiar was the removal of the analogue
joystick port, and it's replacement with a joysick/mouse port that used part
of the user port. I have an add on for my currently non-functional Compact,
(it didn't want to leave - I sold it on Ebay, and it promptly went wrong,
and I've not had time to hunt down the problem). This fitted to the
expansion PCB connector and gave full user port and analogue port
functionality. The other differences were lack of a real time clock and a
strange mini-centronics printer port. There is room for an econet module.

Perhaps might need a patch to the emulator.
