I remember doing some research and finding that the Plus 3 unit is
21VAC (as opposed to 19VAC) and offers a higher maximum current. I
suppose then that the original adapter might run a bit close to its
limits, maybe exceeding them when the disk motor's running, but as
long as it's not a constant heavy load (e.g. the disk motor's not on
all the time) then it's OK.

I know some inkjet printers have fairly hefty power supplies in the
area of 21VAC, I'm sure I have one from a dead Lexmark that might do
(maybe with a change of plug).
