Unfortunately it didn't stop people just using the wrong cables.. ...
I had to 'fix' a Beeb somebody had set-up up in (Micronet's) accounts
dept once .. screen was completly green, I seem to recall.  Turned out
they had found some random modem cable and connected the monitor to
the serial port ...

That only pales into insignificance for "daft technical problems" from
them when I was called upstairs to a problem on a PC which turned out
to be the brightness had been turned all the way down...
