I looked into doing an SCSI to IDE converter, so as not to have a patched 
ADFS, but gave up halfway through as I didn't see the point - it would have 
added extra cost to the board that just wasn't needed.

If you used any standard filing system, the interface would require a 
microcontroller onboard to do the conversion of commands.
