I didn't have a lot of luck with my Spectrum +2. It was my first home
computer in 1988 as a reward for passing my 11-plus. Previously, some
years earlier, we'd had an Apricot F1 on loan from my mother's work,
which I used for writing stories on Word Perfect for DOS. I don't remember
using floppy discs, so I presume it must have had an early hard disc. For
ages I was writing a story called "Shipwrecked" and I could never understand
at the time why I had to spell the file name "SHIPWREC.KED" to fit it all on!

As to the Speccy, we bought it from the local Dixons and I remember we had
to have four or five different models till we got one which worked without
any problems. It was finally abolished in about 1991 when I got my first Beeb.

Best wishes,

Ian

Thanks for the pics to byte back.

I really liked the photo if the zx spectrum +3 and your comments about
the floppy drive.

The zx spectrum does have a disk interface made by third party
company which I am lucky enough to have purchased one when it first
came out. It have a snapshot button on the side that when pressed,
saved whatever was in memory to a disk drive.

Another disk drive unit that I am proud to also own is a cumana disk
interface for the oric range of computers. Unfortunately, it does not
have a snapshot button but a disk utility that only runs on the oric
atmos that will save a cassette file to floppy.
