Quick! Backup!
I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with my veroboard IDE
interface. Very occasionally there'd be a weeee......<silence>
sound as the drive spin down followed by the access light flashing
and the drive going weeeEEE<stop>... wweeeeEEE<stop>...
Turned out there was a veeeeeerrrryyyyy slight disconnection on the
power plug. Simply rotating the leads a couple of degrees and using
a bit of sellotape on them fixed it.
Talking of old drives, I've still got my Torch 20M hard drive
system that I can't get to restart. I'd love to get the data off
that.
