Sounds like you've used your ammeter to short a
logic line somewhere and it's damaged a driver.
Piggybacking is unlikely to work, you'll need a
scope and a lot of time to find that one, then
snip the device out and replace it.

Alternatively, if it was a power supply line then
you may have burnt out a PCB track by turning it
into a fuse :-( Before searching for defective
logic with a scope, make sure all chips have
power where they should (including tied up inputs).
