Even though I use Altera parts, I doubt that. Wholesale
companies still stock plenty of the 'old' parts, and they
have not become more expensive (in fact I know a few that
have become less expensive).

There are several candidates for the part (no pun intended),
but it's true that the choice is rather limited due to the
5V operating/tolerance requirement.
