I am pretty sure this is why mine's dying, although I've not noted down at
what point. It gets a bit stroppy too (the VFS hangs sometimes) so doing it
in chunks would make life easy for the player - bit sure it's more than 8MB
at a time though, possibly you can get it to 64MB chunks on the CF card.
I'll do some experimentation if I get time this week.
On the subject of frame capture, I've got a plan involving connecting the
Master to a Linux box via serial, writing a client prog on the Master to
take in a frame number via serial then get the Linux box to capture it.
I've not done any plugging in/out of things but I'm hoping I can get stuff
by frame number in a sane format via a composite sync and without involving
the genlock.
Ideally then I've got the data and the frames, and should be able to marry
them up once I've untangled the data format.
(Don't hold your breath tho, I'm quite busy right now and any progress is
because I can spend 10 minutes in the garage then leave it alone to 'do
stuff' for most of the day!)
