The emulation was as much my interest in playing with Alchemy and  
Beebem as anything else, but does capture the original system, the  
search and graphing capabilities of the time etc.

I agree that extracting the data and its indexes is what should be  
aimed for - both for ease of future preservation, and to overlay with  
google maps, integrate with other projects etc.

My original thoughts on the copyright issue was to propose a  
backstage.bbc.co.uk project for this, which allows community re-use of  
BBC content?
