Subject: Levei 3 Econet Directory Navigation

This is really irritating!

I'm finally trying to rescue the Technomatic onto a L3 Econet disc on the
Compact Flash drive, but the TMatic is so unreliable that it will only work
for about 30 seconds a time and then gives up for an indetermined period
(anything from 10 seconds to 14 months). As it invariably crashes the Beeb
I need to get back to the network directory above where it stopped working
so I can set Logcopy running again. Without being able to do *DIR ^ I'm
having to type in the full pathname every time, and considering that some
files are 8 or 9 directories deep, it's very frustrating!

Will somebody please invent *UP for me!

Best wishes,

Ian

I'm pretty sure this is a definite limitation of Level 3... It was
rather an inconvenience when I first change the hard disc over from
ADFS, 20+ years ago - I didn't know that it works on other
implementations.

That reminds me... CommunITel (viewdata host software) that was aimed
at schools just used the page requested as the filename ... that was
fine on school econets, but when people ran it at home on ADFS, it
suddenly became apparent that visitors entering commands such as
*^.^.!Boot# would present interesting "pages" ... :-)
