Subject: removing security brand from beeb case

On various Beebs and particularly the Masters I got for free off this
list, I used an industrial detergent called MP9 to remove permanent
marker. I had to scrub it up with a brush until it foamed, then leave
it overnight, repeating this process until it faded the marker pen
until it was almost unnoticeable. I applied it neat - it says on the
label that this is suitable for stripping wax polishes from floors! It
didn't work for everything though, I have a couple of Model Bs with
some green marker on that just wouldn't come off.

The only solution to branded-in security markings would be a filler or
melted plastic of the same colour. I'm sure it can be done but I've no
personal experience of it. Restoring the texture afterwards might also
be tricky, but I'm sure these techniques exist for repairing car
bumpers, so there must be some way of doing it.
