Out of curiosity, is there a way to write 40/80 track floppies on
a generic drive, perhaps this copying program does that?
I have two original copies of the BBC game Beverly Hill's Cop.
The original was recorded to be readable on either 40 or 80 tracks
drives. The first floppy on one copy is corrupt so it won't boot,
but the second copy does.
Although this seems to be a very common game that sells for at most
?1.99 on eBay, it would be interesting to know if I would be able
to restore one copy by using the other. I realize I could make a
version that runs on either a 40 or 80 track drive, but ideally it
would behave like the original.
My setup is a BBC Model B (and/or a Master with dodgy keyboard) and
a UFD single 5.25" drive switchable between 40 or 80 tracks. While
I never got any PC to read or write BBC floppies and I don't have a
XFER cable, I have an IDE interface and CF reader in case I would
need to obtain some special copying program.
Best regards
