From what I've seen in the shops, the simplest justification I can
think of is a spindle of 12cm CDs is quite a bit cheaper than a smaller
pack of 8cm ones... I've not seen the business card type on sale (I
presume you mean the ones that look like a stumpy mower blade? do they
spin evenly?) but I would imagine they cost more yet...
David Glover suggested a recording of the tape version to fill space.
