I'll probably try and stick to the SIO then as my 5 card backplane is
already pretty full! Or I could make a bigger box and buy another eurocard

Yes, the SCC would certainly be a fine choice as well, though I can't
immediately think why it would be significantly better in that
application.  What are the advantages you were thinking of?
