Subject: Fwd: ITV Teletext to shut down in January
It's all very sad. I'm frantically trying to save as much as I can before it
all gets turned off in our region in September. I was in Cornwall a couple of
weeks ago and they were switching their analogue signal off whilst I was
there.
Unfortunately my Super VHS recordings aren't quite as good as I'd hoped-
they are very nearly good enough to get perfect Teletext reception through
the Teletext adapter, but there are sufficient errors each time to need
each page to be manually edited after it's been downloaded.
For the moment, I'm trying to save as many pages as I can directly
from the broadcast signal. It's very time consuming though, and what I
could really do with is a little routine which would work its way through
all the pages and subpages from start to finish and save them as it
goes along, checking for bad data received. I could then leave it on
overnight or during the day and come back to lots of preserved data
(or a smouldering ruin!!)
Best wishes,
Ian

Aussies may be interested to know that the Austext service run by
Channel 7 will shut down in September.
