The definition of "kilobyte" depends on whether you are talking to an
old-school hacker (like 32K in the BBC micro), or some marketing bod who
wants to say the harddisc is 250Gb (instead of closer 230-odd).
A lot of trivial arguments can go on for ages in the tech sector over
definitions of terms as we have pedantic clued-up guys versus sales
people who pick terms based on how they sound and how they can be
marketed over what is technically correct. Like the idea of calling it
BEE so it can be packaged in a black and yellow stripy box... :-)
For my ?0,02's worth, I'd call it a "gateway". Why? It sounds cooler. A
bridge just joins stuff. A gateway? Whole world of possibilities...
Best wishes,
Rick.
