I have a few ZX spectrums like that, but they where originally all chips 
soldered to the circuit board and then subsiquently repaired, though I 
guess the Beeb was a little more robust than the Spectrum.... actually 
now I think about it so was the Comodore, Dragon and pretty much every 
other micro of that era.......
