It appeared to actually have a disk drive connected to it too, so it
therefore seemed odd that they were only provided with games on tape.

My dad didn't have a particularly well-paid job in the 80s, but our
Spectrum Plus was still connected to a second-hand black and white TV
in the kitchen. Surely such a middle-class looking family could have
easily bought a small TV for the computer?
