[it's in French]
Or, if you can handle eccentric autotranslation:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ariase.com%2Ffr%2Fguides%2Fnra-noeud-raccordement.html&sl=fr&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Page 2 ("Page Suivant" at the bottom) is interesting. It suggests that
the range can be extended from the exchange by having this thing which
is, I guess, like a sort of repeater?
The box I was describing is the thing marked "Sous-r?partiteur", the
bigger load of equipment could be hidden in any number of buildings
around. There is an old pigsty with vents sealed, tarted up nice, and
rather a lot of electrical connections into it. Perhaps that's it?
According to the site, our local exchange is not in the village, but
about 2km up the road. The 4700m quoted could be into centre-bourg and
back out again? I'm not sure how much I trust the site, though, as it is
supposed to serve four small villages in a span of, oh, maybe 10 miles?
It is not exactly placed in the best position to serve them all! That
said, if the weather is nice and I go out cycling, I might take the
camera and make a brief detour to where the Google-Map pinpoint says it
ought to be...
Best wishes,
Rick.
