I've yet to get my hands on one of these myself, but since nobody else
has replied,I can give a few generic pointers .. ...:

Is there a equivalent to the 'hosts' file, or a searchdomain field?
Somewhere to set "chriswhy.local" as the default domain name?
Alternatively, can you set the local dns server to assume such on
single name requests? It seems as if it's not finding a dns request
without the domain name as well.

these will be the same reason as the ping doesn't work.

Are there any spaces in the username or password? These always cause
problems.. can you use the same user/pass from another machine on
thenetwork?
