James, if you're reading this, just mung the Reply-To header, right or
wrong. Make the screaming stop. It's killing the list.
Sorry, Kevin.
If it makes a difference, I once opposed munging but turned when it dawned
on me that not munging offended the principle of least surprise.
I would just like to note that at this point in time there have been a
negligible number of accidental broadcasts, but if and when the config
changes a few will surely start coming in. I fear that those bitten will
scream just as loudly, but trust those now pressing for change will shout
them down with the vigour already shown. Hopefully the resulting exchanges
will be more foregone and so less bitter than the current ones.
As it happens I also have to hand-replace the To: address in my replies.
Without judging anyone else I consider my stupid mailer to be my own
problem so I'm prepared to keep bodging till the cows come home. It's the
screeching I can't stand, though. The BBC Micro Mailing List is fast
becoming a forum that debates nothing but its own configuration. Save it,
James. Please.
