I think debate you've caused has raised some good questions.

That is a bit concerning. If this list suddenly disappeared without
warning, it would be good to know where to go (a website page or list)
in order to be steered in the same direction as the rest of the
community. For whatever unknown reason(s) James has not been around.
Could be due a lack or interest or more likely no time on his hands. If
his situation is going to last, perhaps he could grant remote
administration rights to a couple of major players here on the list? A
bit difficult to do if he no longer answers personal messages. Worst
case scenario - Is he still alive? If not, then surely after his hosing
package expires, it be "goodbye BBC Micro list"!. We do need a plan if
those that know James can't get in contact with him. By plan, I don't
mean move, well not unless the list dies without warning, but a central
meeting place on the net or a list.
Michael, if you were offering your mailing list as a "come here if all
else fails" option, I'd sign up now! I don't like the idea of splitting
the topics and posters between two lists though. If we are forced to
move at some point, new list should not be managed by a single person,
but administered by at least 3 active members.
The headers issue was only a minor irritation to me too(or it was before
"Mail to list" arrived on my thunderbird) as I'm not a frequent poster,
but the future of this list is far more important. Where else could I
"leech" so much info for free ;-)
Cheers,
Mick.
