What kind of screen are you connecting it to? I've heard people
complaining of very similar symptoms when connecting a BBC to an LCD
TV.

I've not had the problem myself, but I've had something similar when
connecting a BBC to an LCD projector via composite video, where the
projector would gradually fail to lock on to the colour signal as the
machine warmed up, the picture flickering into monochrome until it
eventually stayed that way.
