There's an interesting thought! I'll need to see what brands are
supposed to be AAAAs, and if not, well, I need a spare PP3 for the
multimeter.
[BTW, when did the world stop using PP3? all the batteries here have
'LR' numbers, it's like they seem to want to phase out the older types -
how stupid if that includes 'AA', 'C', etc]
[BTW2, just out of interest, was there ever a 'B' size cell?]

I don't recall seeing anything else...
The hardest PP3 I ever saw was the little plastic RS rechargeable. It's
like it was embedded with the plastic poured around it, not those flimsy
tin-foil-wrapped efforts you see nowadays with "Made in PRC" stamped on
the bottom.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Best wishes,
Rick.
