Subject: BBC B with odd screen fault

Sorry, I didn't give much in the way of details. It happens in all modes
not just 7 and I think it could RAM related.
I tried loading snapper from a cassette, and the more it loaded the worse
it seemed to get.
Once the acornsoft loading screen had gone, the screen was totally blank,
but the snapper sounds could still be heard.
I also loaded the Superior Speech!, which again made the problem worse,
but the screen was still visible and sounds could be heard.
Could it be RAM related, i.e. the fuller the RAM the worse the screen, I
did try moving the link so only 16K ram was accessible, but this didn't make
any difference to the screen

If it's happening in all modes, and the Beeb still seems to run things okay,
then it's unlikely to be RAM, as that would also crash the machine. You
could try a different Video ULA, as it's socketed, apart from that, if you
have changed the LS245, then it's probably something deeper in the video
circuitry.

Mark.
