CFACKUP has options to backup only the used portion or the entire contents
of the CF card. I have advised Peter to do the later.

Jon.

I would be wary of using them on a damaged filesystem, as they only back up
the "used" portion of the CF card, which they must do by analysing the
filesystem (at least partially).
If the FS is hosed, then its possible that CFBACKUP may not back up all the
data.

Michael

Or use the CFBACKUP and CFRESTORE utilities on the CD, which were designed
specifically for backing up ADFS CF drives.

So, ALWAYS keep the original (even if damaged) until you know you
absolutely no longer need it.
It's also a good idea to clone it (e.g. with dd on a Linux system) and
work with the copy.
You don't need a linux system - go to http://www.chrysocome.net/dd and get a
standalone version of dd which
works at the windows command prompt with no need for cygwin etc.
I have a documented procedure that I've used to backup and restore CF drives
from a telecoms box.
I did this using Windows Vista, and a USB card reader.
If anyone wants a copy of the procedure drop me an email.
