Years ago, I had a lot of fun with a program called Copy II PC which
came with its own 8-bit ISA card for copying protected disks.
On a tangential topic, does anyone want a 5.25" 1.2 MB drive, beige
bezel? Dave Moore said some time ago he would have it but hasn't been
in touch since.
I used this drive to read BBC discs. It's a Teac, a very good make and
happily read pretty much anything I threw at it. Available for cost of
P&P + a beer.
