Never had a problem finding hotels or restaurants that take Amex.

As my last travel manager used to say, "Cheap hotels don't take Amex,
nice ones do"

In my Nortel days we were given corporate Amex cards, and travel

a hotel that took Amex - if you were lucky there would be one
hotel in the target area.
